Hi, I'm Dale, a food safety professional who loves everything technology. I currently work in a Projects & Performance role at FBC UK, one of the UK's largest biscuit manufacturers.
My role sits at the intersection of food safety, data analysis, systems thinking, and project management, giving me a unique perspective on how technology can make food safer and operations smarter.
I've spent 6 years working with the Microsoft Power Platform, building production Power Apps and Power Automate flows that are actively used across the business every day.
Outside of work, I explore tech, build things, and write about what I learn, always looking for the next step forward.

AI-Augmented Learning
AI has fundamentally changed how fast I can pick things up. The skill I've built isn't just using AI tools. It's knowing how to work with them effectively: structuring problems clearly, iterating on outputs, and critically evaluating what comes back rather than accepting it at face value. That approach has let me move into Python, web development, and data pipeline work far faster than I could have otherwise. AI acts as a tutor, a sounding board, and a collaborator. Learning to use it well is its own transferable skill.
Automated Data Pipelines
Building Python-based tools that use API calls to gather data automatically from multiple sources, then scheduling them with CRON jobs to keep everything current without manual intervention. The aim is live, reliable data feeding into dashboards and decision-making rather than periodic manual exports.
West Green Darts
Built and actively developing a mobile-first web app for managing West Green Darts team. The app handles fixtures, live 501 scoring with finish guidance, player profiles, and tracks 18+ performance metrics per player. Currently in active use by the team, with ongoing refinements to the scoring engine and statistics dashboard based on real-world feedback.

Food Safety Data Transformation
Developed tools and dashboards that transform operational data from audits, incidents, and performance indicators into structured datasets for analysis and reporting. Turns day-to-day factory activity into measurable trends that leadership teams can use to identify risks, prioritise improvements, and measure progress. The broader goal is to move quality and food safety from reactive reporting toward proactive risk management.
121 Darts Challenge App
Designed and built a desktop application that helps players practice the 121 checkout challenge while tracking performance metrics. The app records checkouts, darts used, success rates, and player statistics. It also suggests optimal checkout routes and visualises targets on a dartboard graphic, with player data stored for analysis to track improvement over time. This project explores the intersection of sports analytics and software development.
Complaints Insight Engine
Built a data analysis pipeline using Python to explore complaint trends across multiple manufacturing sites. Rather than simply counting complaints, the system analyses complaint narratives using topic modelling and clustering techniques to identify recurring themes and hidden patterns. The goal is to move beyond surface metrics and uncover deeper insights that can inform product improvement, manufacturing changes, and preventative actions.
Audit and Incident Management
Created a platform to manage internal audits, incidents, and corrective actions in a single structured environment. Teams can raise issues, assign ownership, track corrective actions, and monitor closure timelines. By linking audits and incidents to root cause analysis and corrective actions, the system improves visibility of recurring issues and helps leadership understand where systemic improvements are required.
Supplier Assurance Stage and Gate
Developed a digital stage-gate system to manage the approval of new raw materials and packaging. The application guides users through structured approval stages, ensuring key technical, quality, and regulatory checks are completed before materials are introduced to production. Each gate captures approvals, documentation, and risk assessments, creating a full audit trail with logic for conditional steps based on material type and applicability.

A mobile-first web application for managing a darts team, covering fixtures, live game scoring, player profiles, and comprehensive statistics. Features live 501 scoring with undo functionality and finish guidance, PIN-based team access, season organisation, and tracking of 18+ performance metrics per player. Includes a team dashboard, CSV data export, and progressive web app support optimised for touch devices.
